We are currently seeking a Construction Cost Accountant. This position provides administrative support for project start-up, coordination, general accounting, and office support to our construction and manufacturing project management team, as well as overall responsibility from an accounting perspective. The Construction Cost Accountant reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for all project related accounting functions across multiple projects. This role is responsible for all compliance and company policy and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities: Being highly responsive and attentive to the requests/needs of internal and external clients – both construction management, shop management and manufacturing management, including vendors and subcontractors. Collaborate with the project team in the monitoring and review of all projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.  Meet weekly with each team to ensure accuracy of reporting.  Work with systems administrator to improve reporting of all projects. Responsible for the review and verification of all construction and manufacturing billings, subcontractor and general condition related payments associated with assigned project. Ensure all approved Change Orders are posted and therefore represented in the monthly requisition process in a timely manner. Review job set-up of newly entered jobs to ensure accuracy and completeness of data entry. Attend scheduled project management meetings. Review job cost detail reports with PM’s to identify items for correction and help identify invalid open commitments, over/under budget items on a weekly basis. Provide management with a status report on all jobs in progress. Full ownership of the month end Work in Progress (WIP) as necessary to have final WIP complete on the end of the month working toward a goal of by the 10th workday of each month. Provide job cost information for month end, quarter end and year-end close.   Responsible for the job closeout process by verifying that outstanding costs have been recorded; final owner billings are issued; assists with collection of final billings, determines when jobs can be closed in systems. Interface with project team and senior management on all aspects of project construction and manufacturing accounting.   Promote our culture to our clients, subcontractors, communities we are working in and the public at large.   Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Educational and experience requirements include: 4-year accounting degree or equivalent combination of technical or accounting related experience, plus three to five years’ experience/knowledge of construction accounting and cost controls are required. Abilities Required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Ability to be tactful, respectful, influential and diplomatic when dealing with clients, subcontractors and co-workers. Must have strong Microsoft Excel capabilities, billing experience, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deliverables.
