California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is the largest State agency in California with approximately 58,000 employees. CDCR is responsible for overseeing one of the largest correctional populations in the United States, and has more than 36,000 custody staff who support the 24-hour, 7 day-a-week operations within 35 state prisons and 42 conservation camps statewide. The Department ensures public safety through carefully controlled, safe, and secure incarceration of adult and juvenile offenders; effective parole oversight; and rehabilitative strategies designed to successfully reintegrate offenders into our communities.
