Job Title: Child Care Teacher (Preschool)

Department: ASSIST Academy

Reports to: Child Care Director

Summary: TheChild Care Teacher plans and executes pre designed curriculum to children in the daycare setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Travels to client, school or meeting sites as required for program or administrative need
  • Arrives promptly at site to meet with ASSIST staff to prep for assignments and lessons; demonstrates regular, reliable attendance
  • Arrives to all site/company shifts and meetings in company compliant dress code (Shifts are 7.5 hours)
  • Monitors children during snack and meal times and perform clean up as assigned by Child Care Director
  • Maintains line of site for all children throughout the duration of shift
  • Providing care for children, such as setting schedules and routines, grooming, feeding, and cleaning rooms and toys daily
  • Follows check in procedure for all students, such as sanitization and ProCare protocol
  • Develops and encourages age-appropriate learning and socialization to ensure children learn basic skills and concepts, such as communication, manners, sharing, etc.
  • Maintains a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents
  • Helps children discover new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, and other potential hobbies
  • Ensures children are learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed
  • Records records relating to child care and reports to Child Care Director in timely manner
  • Works with parents to help children progress towards educational and behavioral goals
  • Provides homework assistance
  • Builds weekly lesson plans with own ideas and materials provided by ASSIST Academy
  • Turns in, and discusses weekly lesson plans; obtains approval from Child Care Director
  • Cleans, preps, sanitizes, maintains, and secures workspaces and community areas
  • Develops a safe and supportive environment for children that is welcoming and inviting
  • Encourages children to make positive behavioral choices and follows disciplinary structure when necessary
  • Works to get along with staff, parents and volunteers as appropriate
  • Ensures children safety is utmost priority and complies with site and ASSIST Academy procedure and policy
  • Communicates to supervisor with any identified child need
  • Demonstrates leadership, respect, and professionalism in all interactions
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism regarding information about staff, child and volunteer matters
  • Attends and engages in staff development campaigns, projects and activities
  • Communicates daily in GroupMe messaging app
  • Participates in monthly and annual self-reviews
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Essential Physical Functions:

The incumbent must be able to talk and hear over the phone, walkie talkie and in person. Extended standing and use of hands and fingers for work activities is required. The incumbent will occasionally stand, walk, run, reach, balance, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities require driving, as well as close reading. Lifting and carrying is occasionally up to 50 pounds. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to wet conditions, cleaning chemicals, fumes, gases, and odors. Information regarding hazardous chemicals in the workplace is available.

Essential Mental Functions:

The incumbent works in a busy environment with frequent interruptions and limited quiet time. Incumbent must sustain concentration, follow a set of procedures and organize own work. Some of the work requires multi tasking, quick de-escalation and conflict resolution.

Requirements:

  • At least 12 units in Child Development; Child, Family, & Community; and ECE Program and Curriculum with at least six months of experience working in a licensed child care center. (Note: Infant Teachers must have at least 3 units in Infant/Toddler Development).
  • Criminal Record Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training certificate
  • Health Screening and TB
  • Immunization records (MMR, Tdap, and flu) Some knowledge of working with children with IEP or disabilities (Preferred.)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour
