Job Description

Staples Energy is an energy savings company that partners with local utilities and government agencies to implement direct install energy efficiency programs. "Going green" has caught on immensely, and we're planning on leading the change for more efficient and beneficial energy programs.


We are looking for a Weatherization NGAT Technician to help support our direct install team for the residential energy savings assistance program in Sacramento, Ca.


Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs assigned tasks. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required.


Essential Job Functions

  • Review and confirm the measures to be installed according to the Installation Agreement
  • Identify and report to Lead Tech any additional opportunities for installation of measures.
  • Assist Lead Tech in identifying tools and material necessary for completion of the job.
  • Perform all assigned installation tasks and tests specified by the Lead Tech.
  • Provide excellent customer service and be courteous of the customer’s home.
  • Dress in approved apparel including safety shoes, long pants, and identifying contractor shirt and badge.
  • Install all feasible measures on the assessment or any other feasible measure that may have not been assessed but has been approved by the Lead Tech.
  • Remove all hazardous, non-hazardous materials, trash, etc. from the job site.
  • Assist Lead Tech in documenting all installed measures on the approved work order including any pertinent notes.

Working Conditions:

  • Employee will be required to climb 6-ft to 10-ft ladders to access work
  • Employee may be required to drive 6 hours one-way to job site
  • Employee will be required to work with power tools and operate equipment
  • Employee may come in contact with hazardous material and/or substances while working
  • Employee may need to lift up to 50lbs and requires full range of motion
  • Employee will be required to crawl and access confined spaces


NGAT Certified

  • 2+ years of customer service experience
  • Attend utility program training and pass required tests
  • 1+ years experience working with power tools
  • Maintain a good driving record and valid driver’s license
  • Pass all background and drug screens

  • Mathematical skills
  • Proficient spoken and written English
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Participate in evening or weekend support when needed
  • Work well both independently and as a member of a high performance team
  • Punctuality and ability to meet daily schedules
  • Commitment to quality and customer satisfaction
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities


Bonus Points for:

  • Bilingual
  • Experience in carpentry or construction field
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency
