United States of America - California, Los Angeles **Job Summary** **AECOM** is actively seeking a responsive, organized, detailed orientated SH&E Specialist II for immediate employment. This position works in a team with additional Area SH&E Managers to provide support to AECOM Design, Consulting Services operations throughout the west coast of the united states, including Alaska and Hawaii. This position reports to the Area SH&E Manager. The SH&E Specialist is a generalist that can quickly learn and adapt to new situations and challenges, make assessments about resources needed and assist operations managers in successfully delivering safe and healthy work. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below: + Provide visible and active support throughout the region for safety. + Monitor and assess safety programs at diverse work sites (civil construction, building construction, environmental remediation and construction, industrial construction). + Identify specific, actionable and feasible solutions to complex safety, health and environmental issues. + Validate the effectiveness of corrective actions . + Develop site and project specific safety plans, training programs, audit protocols, and supporting safety programs (rewards and recognition, security plans etc). + Recommend changes to policies and procedures that affect the region’s operations and employees . + Train and coach all levels of employees in the organizations. + Assist operational group in meeting safety performance targets. + Conduct safety training, lead meetings and work groups involving various types of workers, ability to adapt group dynamics and create engaging learning environments. **About AECOM** At **AECOM** , we believe infrastructure creates opportunity for everyone. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes. **Minimum Requirements** + Bachelor's Degree in related field + 2 years of relevant experience or 4+ years of relevant experience. + Experience or demonstrated knowledge in local safety regulations, Federal OSHA, USEPA, DOT, Radiation Safety, NFPA 70e, and other regulatory requirements. + Must be able to achieve compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations of diverse work sites and office settings, while pushing projects and offices towards safety excellence. + Travel with overnight stays will be required and may account for 40% of time. + Valid drivers license required. + Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience preferable in the environmental, energy/power, or heavy construction projects. + Occupational Health & Safety Technician (OHST), Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), or Associate Safety Professionals (ASP) or equivalent preferred. + Requires a high level of professionalism, strong skills in relationship building, and well-formed leadership style. + Experience diffusing escalating situations, managing change, and remaining objective in the face a varying opinions, accounts and influences. + Must be able to motivate others, build teams and maintain forward thinking approach. + Ability to successfully influence and inspire. + Able to perform in a fast paced, highly dynamic work environment, prioritize appropriately, and be highly responsive. + Able to relate to and perform well in front of field technicians, engineers, scientists, senior managers and executives. + Able to work cross functionally in operations, and partner with other internal stakeholders. + Consulting work preferred. **What We Offer** When you join AECOM, you become part of a company that is pioneering the future.
