Job Description

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and/or adults with autism, is open to learning and being trained in our field, and has the desire to make a difference turning passion to purpose.

Work as an Instructional Aide at Odyssey Learning Center with children and adults with autism.

Odyssey Learning Center is an educational program for children and young adults with autism. We utilize a multi-dimensional teaching approach for communication, academic, and vocational skill training. We are looking for dedicated individuals who want to make a difference and have an interest in special needs education. We also transport our students to and from home.

Our employment opportunities include:

  • Odyssey Learning Center Instructional Aide Monday - Friday 8:45am-2:45pm

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Obtain and maintain required certifications and trainings.
  • Safely and effectively implement crisis intervention principles as taught during post-hire training
  • Assist in facilitating the personal, social, and intellectual development of students as required by the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/or the supervising teacher.
  • Assist in establishing a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Assist students with toileting, and personal hygiene.
  • Professionally and safely support students with social, communication, and behavioral challenges both in classroom and on the van.
  • Follow Odyssey's policy for student community-based instruction and safety awareness
  • Report any and all classroom needs, safety concerns, incident, and injury or health concerns.
  • Write clear and accurate reports pertaining to incidents or injuries with the support of the teacher and/or coworkers when applicable.
  • Record data as outlined by the teacher and/or service providers
