**Job Summary**
**AECOM** is actively seeking an Environmental Economist with expertise in natural capital accounting for immediate full-time permanent employment in the Nature-based Solutions and Climate Resilience Practice in northern California or Maine (additional flexible work locations will be considered). We’re looking for someone who is committed to tackling environmental and sustainability challenges, as well as knowledge of relevant environmental and sustainability policy, guidance, and best practice more generally.
You’ll be involved in research and analysis, combining desk studies with occasional visits to client offices and project sites, and delivering projects for public, private and third sector organizations across a range of sectors including water, energy, agriculture, forestry, and transport. The team works across all aspects of the natural capital agenda including natural capital accounting and assessment, biodiversity and environmental net gain analysis, rewilding, nature-based solutions and markets and payments for ecosystem services. You’ll employ your creativity to develop and support the implementation of ideas and solutions to deliver effective environmental and sustainability outcomes and improved project performance.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Supporting project directors and managers and wider project teams in the delivery of projects relating to natural (and other types of) capital, ecosystem services, biodiversity, environmental net gain and related policy research
+ Assembling and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
+ Contributing to the development of ideas and potential solutions for more effective environmental and sustainability outcomes and improved project performance
+ Keeping up to date with relevant policy, guidance and best practice relating to natural capital, ecosystem services and environmental valuation
+ Assisting in the delivery of project outputs with direction from senior members of the team including – for example, literature reviews, stakeholder interviews, project reports, natural capital accounts, cost-benefit analyses, and related technical studies

**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor's Degree in environmental economics, ecological economics, environmental impact assessment, environmental management, environmental policy, environmental science, geography, social science, and sustainable development plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ A Master’s degree in a field that provides a strong foundation for quantitative analysis, environmental economics, ecological economics, environmental impact assessment, environmental management, environmental policy, environmental science, geography, social science, and sustainable development.
+ Two (2) years of applicable experience in natural capital accounting in a consulting context
+ Quantitative planning and data analysis methods experience
+ Experience in natural capital accounting
+ Experience applying economic understanding/skills to a broad range of project types
+ Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
+ Produces and delivers exceptional quality work that is thoughtful, thorough, and polished
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Strong verbal and writing skills
+ Ability to solve problems creatively
**Additional Information:**
+ Relocation is not available for this position.
+ Offered rate of compensation (for Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $74,000 - $137,000.
