POSITION:                  Social Services Case Manager (DN2S5700)

DEPARTMENT:            (551 Social Services) / Roseville Corps.

STATUS:                      Non-Exempt / Full-time

BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to assist the daily Social Service Coordinator, the overall department and its volunteers.  This position will work directly with Captain Clarissa Ochoa-Oliveira and personnel and volunteers as well as donors and clients in providing assistance with social services worker.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for answering phone calls, referring callers’ messages to appropriate personnel.
  2. Process eligibility and intake interviews with families/individuals in need.
  3. Greet all visitors and directing them to proper them to the appropriate departments/personnel.
  4. Manage and maintain the stocking of the food pantry and packaging of food boxes for client households, including oversight of volunteers.
  5. Provide referrals to other agencies in the community.
  6. Receive, receipt, and log all donations, including in-kind (GIK) and monetary donations. All monetary donations to be immediately turned in to the Administration office.
  7. Responsible for screening clients using REACH casework guidelines and Bridges application, to create or maintain client files, while identifying spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical needs, providing services where possible and referrals to additional resources as needed.
  8. Keep accurate stats and records of all services provided.
  9. Adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
  10. Seek opportunities to link clients with corps programs.
  11. Assist with seasonal social service activity, such as canned food drives
  12. Assist with the Christmas Kettle program as requested including but not limited to driving, picking up kettles and/or donations, counting money, assisting Captain Clarissa with Angel tree and etc.
  13. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  14. Register and maintains files for Summer Away camp and summer Day camp.
  15. Assist in supervising children as needed in summer Day camp, troops and other programs.
  16. Will over-see the Grants that our Corps has and will also assist in writing grants.
  17. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  1. BA in related field required. Further education in social work or related field preferred.
  2. Previous experience working in social services/human services preferred.
  3. Willing and able to maintain confidential information in accordance with The Salvation Army and industry standards.
  4. Ability to speak and write the English language at a professional level
  5. High degree of confidentiality
  6. Minimum one (1) year social service experience preferred
  7. Ability to demonstrate a professional demeanor to both staff and the public at all times
  8. Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  9. Excellent organizational, prioritizing, planning and problem-solving skills.
  10. Must have ability to empathize, communicate and work with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
  11. Able to endorse and promote The Salvation Army’s mission.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  1. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  2. Must be 21 years or older.
  3. Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
  4. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
  3. Ability to reach overhead
  4. Ability to operate telephone
  5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  6. Ability to operate a computer
  7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
  8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
  9. Ability to utilize miscellaneous office equipment including, but not limited to staplers, three-hole punch, etc.
  10. Some travel may be required
