Job Description

Position Overview: 

The Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for a variety of highly sensitive and confidential accounting duties including managing accounts payable, the payment process, processing bi-weekly payroll, reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to accounts payable and payroll, as well as being able to work both independently and collaboratively while also prioritizing a diverse workload. The AP & Payroll Specialist will foster a culture of inclusion and professional growth that will advance the mission, vision, and core values of Atlas Disposal.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with coding and entering vendor invoices
  • Assist with processing weekly payment runs
  • Assist with coding, entering, and paying manual/out-of-cycle checks
  • Reconcile Credit Card Statements as needed
  • Research and answer vendor questions
  • Contact vendors and reconcile outstanding payments
  • Assist with audits as needed
  • Answer and Process Incoming Vendor Calls and Customer Service Overflow Calls
  • Entering data into databases and spreadsheets
  • Under the supervision of the department manager process payroll for employees in the organization
  • Processes managers’ requests for reimbursements and payroll corrections
  • Report to the department supervisor regarding daily activities and issues
  • Prepare reports to relevant departments

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in business or related experience
  • Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
  • Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
  • Exceptional judgment and trustworthiness. High integrity and ethical character
  • Good understanding of the common fiscal procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
  • Eagerness for solving problems and a commitment to accepting responsibility
  • Enthusiasm for working in an organization where flexibility and teamwork are absolute necessities
