The CA. Department of Social Services' Office of Equity Division is recruiting for a Staff Services Manager II (SSM II).
An Ombudsperson is an advocate for the rights of a vulnerable population. the incumbent in this position advocates for current and former foster youths by managing a toll-free hot line, overseeing web and social media messaging, and actively informing youth, their care givers and providers of the youth's rights and reasonable parenting standards via in person and virtual training and events.
This position will oversee the operations of the office, including but not limited to ensuring case management and virtual call center operate at maximum efficiency and managing all contracts for the office. The primary functions of the office are receiving and investigating complaints regarding care, placement and services for foster youth, which may include visits to placements; providing training to youth and others in the foster care system on foster youth rights; creating and distributing materials; and outreach to the community regarding foster youth rights and the purpose of the office. In addition, this position is expected to ensure data collection and manage the drafting of the annual report to the Legislature. Furthermore, the position is expected to supervise a team of managers and enact the priorities of the Ombudsperson by setting team and individual goals which align with the mission.
