GENERAL SUMMARY
The Volunteer Coordinator promotes and implements ACC Senior Services’ philosophy of inclusion and engagement of volunteers in daily services and activities. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, training, recognition, coordination of assignments, and retention of volunteers for ACC Senior Services (ACC). The Volunteer Coordinator may perform full supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff and volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator spends 30% of their time managing the ACC Community Center’s Front Desk and Welcome Center.
The Volunteer Coordinator position is an hourly (non-exempt) level position and reports to the HCBP Administrator and LLWP Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops systems and procedures for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, retention and recognition within a multi-site non-profit organization serving older adults
- Develops, coordinates, and evaluates volunteer efforts and activities in order to maintain and grow program capacity.
- Organizes and schedules volunteer assignments; maintains and updates participant and volunteer information in order to create accurate reports; provides excellent customer service.
- Works with Program Managers to track and report participant and engagement data.
- Helps with the planning and execution of special events.
- Assists with development, management, and reporting of a volunteer services budget.
- Develops and implements marketing and outreach strategies for volunteer recruitment and relationship building with other organizations, such as attending special events, community fairs and other outreach opportunities;
- Assists with media production as needed, including print media, social media posts, livestreaming, recordings, and other.
- Works with other Front Desk staff and volunteers to maintain lobby and Welcome Center areas; manages incoming phone calls and community center walk-ins; provides excellent customer service; supports program needs and special projects.
- Receives Resource Specialist training and certification to provide enhanced information and referral services in person and over the phone.
- Assists with grants and donor solicitations to provide program funds and in-kind donations.
- Maintains a strong understanding of ACC HR, Accounting, Fund Development, and Programs services, functions, and staffing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience social services or related field preferred.
- Effective English written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literate; ability to correspond using MS Word and email; experience with office equipment, smartphones, multi-line phones, and audiovisual equipment.
- Flexibility and willingness to work evenings or weekends when needed. Ability to plan, organize, and implement work on short notice and be flexible when a shift in priorities is needed.
- Available to travel periodically; must have reliable transportation.
- Minimum of two years of increased responsibility and demonstrated leadership or supervision in a volunteer setting preferred; volunteer experience with older adults preferred.
