Job Description

Washington Unified School District is a medium-sized district of 7500 students located in West Sacramento, CA. The Athletic Director is responsible to the Principal for the total athletic program of the
high school. The Athletic Director should organize, promote, and direct an approved
program of inter-school athletics that will be in harmony with and contribute to the
educational philosophy of the Washington Unified School District. 

5 years of teaching experience is required and previous Athletic Director experience is recommended but not required. Possession of a valid teaching credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing preferred.

Responsibilities Include:

1. Staff and Student Supervision

-Game preparation - monitor.
-Selects, assigns and supervises coaches.
-Hears athletic grievances along with the principal or designee.
-Monitors completion of personnel paperwork of coaches;
-Coordinates awards and recognition systems for coaches and players.

2. Sits on the athletic appeals committee.

-Organization, Facility Use and Scheduling
-Schedules athletic events - oversees.
-Schedules transportation - oversees.
-Schedules officials.
-Disseminate information regarding schedules to staff, parents and students.
-Supervise equipment inventories.
-Schedules health and emergency staff for athletic events.
-Represents school at League meetings.

3. Budget

-Develops and monitors athletic budget.
-Coordinates fundraising activities with coaches and Booster Club.
-Controls entry fees.

4. Community and Public Relations

-Represents school athletic program at parent meetings and to media.
-Develop an Athletic Handbook.
-Works with the Athletic Booster Club.

M.A./M.S- $1,000 annual stipend+ $1,000 for doctorate/ BCLAD- $1,000 annual stipend
