Position Description
The Service Technician plays a critical role in the environmental compliance efforts of our clients. Service Technicians maintain and repair all refueling equipment for the petroleum industry, as well as commercial and municipal refueling facilities, marinas, and airports. The Technician will ensure that state and local regulatory directives regarding storage and monitoring systems are met. Technician will work closely with client personnel as a company representative, perform maintenance, and troubleshooting without direct supervision. The Service Technician will serve as the eyes and ears of our clients identifying and documenting all compliant and any observed non-compliant issues. This position will provide services in an efficient and timely manner and conduct business in a safe, ethical, and professional manner. Additionally, this position will act as Job Site Safety Officer and implement internal company safety policies at the job site. Must be able to follow instructions and complete assigned jobs timely and safely.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Experience with UST/AST monitoring and fuel system maintenance equipment is required.
- Current or prior ICC UST Service Technician certification.
- Current or prior Veeder-Root ATG Technician certification.
- 24 or 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate or current 8-hour refresher courses.
- Must have good electrical and mechanical aptitude, as well as the ability to work and troubleshoot problems independently.
- Should be able to understand and conform to complex regulatory requirements.
- Excellent judgement and ability to deal with changing field conditions and requirements.
- Must have excellent communication skills, basic knowledge of computer systems (Microsoft Office - Outlook, Teams, Word), and an eye for detail.
- Ensure all individuals within the work area are compliant with all safety requirements, ensure the work area is always clean and secure.
- Conduct and document daily tailgate safety meetings including identification of potential safety hazards in and around the work area.
- Stay organized and maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Read and interpret machine diagnostic reports.
- Frequently lift, carry, move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally drive/haul trailer to and from job sites.
- Submit daily work order and project associated paperwork.
- Occasional out-of-town stay is required.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience & Requirements
- Drive a company vehicle to job sites and drive extensive distances, occasionally up to 1000 miles per week (and conduct daily DVIR inspections).
- Adjusting to changing field conditions and requirements.
- Perform required monitoring certification, secondary containment, spill bucket testing, and vapor recovery testing and repairs per state regulatory requirements.
- Submittal of daily work order and project associated paperwork.
- Occasional out-of-town stay is required.
Other Requirements
- Completion of background check, MVR and physical/drug screening.
- Valid CA Driver's License, acceptable driving record; company provided vehicle with secure at-home parking.
- Must possess excellent communication and organization skills and a desire to function in a position of high visibility both internal and external to the company.
Physical/Additional Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs; kneel, squat, bend, stop, twist at waist & neck, etc.
- Ability to speak clearly & professionally to communicate with team & clients.
- Ability to lift, carry, move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk around job sites that may be dirt, cement, asphalt, uneven terrain, etc.
Salary and Benefits
· Salary range for position: $24/hr - $37/hr
