Job Description

The Highway Maintenance Supervisor class supervises multiple crews of employees performing either (1) a broad range of highway repair and maintenance projects from less complex ones such as moveable bridge operation and maintenance; debris removal; hazardous material removal, clean-up and disposal; and the routine maintenance and repair of pavement, roadside appurtenances (e.g. culverts, ditches, shoulder grades, sidewalks, fences, guardrails, retaining walls), bridges, and landscape areas to the more complex, large and multiple maintenance and repair projects involving roads, bridges and landscape areas or (2) airfield specific maintenance activities such as cleaning, repairing and/or maintaining runways, taxiways, aprons, roadways, parking lots, storm drainage systems, de-watering application area, and fencing within the Sacramento County Airport System: Sacramento International Airport, Executive Airport, Mather Airport, and Franklin Field.

Minimum Qualifications

Either: 1. One year in a Sacramento County class supervising stormwater utility work.

Or: 2. Two years of full-time experience in a journey level or above class in Sacramento County performing highway maintenance, stormwater utility or airfield maintenance work.

Or: 3. Two years of full-time leadworker or supervisory experience in road, bridge or landscape maintenance, road construction, stormwater utility or airfield maintenance work.
