Transplant Support Representative (Full-TIme, Day Shift)
Provides support to Transplant Coordinator by arranging all aspects of evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care of both inpatients and outpatients. Facilitates smooth and efficient department operations and communications; and prepares and maintains the clinical environment for safe and efficient clinical services. Will be assigned an area of specialty and be cross-trained to perform the duties of all counterparts.

Current BLS required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must possess basic knowledge of medical diagnostic procedures and preparations as well as scheduling. Must have knowledge of what a multi-disciplinary team is and be able to function as an effective team member. Must have working knowledge of Xerox, word processing, laser printing, and FAX equipment.
Previous experience in a medical facility or as medical assistant preferred.
Under the direction of an RN, prioritizes and manages multiple demands in an ever changing environment. Written and verbal English communication skills, customer service skills, math skills, basic computer skills are required.
Requires the demonstrated ability to accurately receive and relay information over the telephone and in person; act calmly and decisively in emergency situations and exercise sound judgment.
Maintains technical expertise. Recognizes both technical and non-technical problems and resolves them effectively.
Consults with appropriate personnel and responds to problems and conflicting priorities calmly and effectively.
Regularly inspects equipment to ensure it is in proper working order. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and initiates appropriate trouble-shooting activities to correct minor problems. This includes processes/ equipment such as EKG, ECP, Bio-Z, Vital signs, medical terminology and Bio-Z equipment, Xerox, fax machines.
Monitors supplies in clinic area, restocking and/or ordering supplies, including linens, as necessary. Monitors
expiration dates, disposing of expired items per policy and replacing.
Provides transplant coordinators support throughout clinic. Generates appropriate form letters and attachments.
Reviews patient and pharmacy requests for prescription refills and phones approval to pharmacy or requests
Transplant Coordinator review and approval. Rounds on the transplant floor to follow patient progress, recording lab results, medication changes, treatments and diagnostic procedures in the patient medical chart. Refers patients for Social Work and/or Dietary consultation as indicated by the healthcare providers. Provides appropriate ICD-9 codes and patient information to 3rd party payors upon request.
Tracks and maintains medical records on all pre/post transplant patients, maintains patient activity lists and database; maintains current serologic information, demographic and other medical information on those patients awaiting transplantation. Continuously updates charts as needed by making data entries and filing paperwork.
Triages patient calls. Obtains clinical information and vital statistics needed to accurately perform a transplant evaluation and initiates routine evaluation testing of candidates as indicated by the multi-disciplinary committee.
Schedules clinical appointments, tests, diagnostic procedures, and consultations; explains diagnostic procedures to patients as needed. Reviews diagnostic study and laboratory results for completeness and correctness. Arranges
repeat as necessary. Prioritizes results for Transplant Coordinator review.
