Associate Auditor Appraiser

Job Description

The Associate Auditor-Appraiser regularly performs complex and specialized work requiring highly sophisticated auditing, accounting, and property appraisal techniques in the audit and analysis of financial records and the appraisal of personal property of major commercial, industrial, diversified and specialized entities, commercial aircraft, and leased equipment. The Associate Auditor-Appraiser does not regularly perform lead-work functions but may serve as a resource person regarding specialized audit-appraisal functions, may participate in special studies and may be assigned to Assessment Standards work such as performing internal audits and reviewing the work of others for purposes of quality control and identification of training needs. The Associate Auditor-Appraiser also performs a variety of audit-appraisal work including auditing large commercial and industrial properties in out-of-County and out-of-state locations.

NOTE:  9/80 and telework schedules may be available after completing probation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education, training, and experience likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities for this class. Typical ways include:

Either 1. One year of experience performing the duties of an Auditor-Appraiser (Level II) in Sacramento County service 

Or 2. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with specialization in accounting

AND 

Two years of professional experience within the last ten years in auditing, accounting, or personal property appraisal. At least one year of the experience must have been in auditing business records for the purpose of personal property tax assessment in a California county assessor's office or at the California State Board of Equalization.

Note:  The California Board of Equalization defines a “specialization in accounting” as a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education with successful completion of one of the following:

  •  18 semester/quarter equivalent units in accounting and/or auditing. Business law and economic courses cannot contribute toward the 18 semester/quarter equivalent units; or 
  • 19 semester/quarter equivalent units, of which 16 units must be accounting and/or auditing courses. Three (3) of the 19 units may be business law or economics
