The Electrophysiology (EP)
Technical Specialist provides technical and support services in the area of
diagnostic and interventional EP services at Sutter Medical Center-Sacramento.
The incumbent operates sophisticated, expensive, computerized electrophysiology
equipment in providing quality patient care which results in accurate diagnosis
and/or treatment of congenital or acquired heart disease. The incumbent performs patient care in a
manner consistent with a safe and professional environment for pediatric,
adolsecent, adult, and geriatric patients. This position functions in a highly specialized and unique area and must
be adaptable to a varying work schedule.
**Education / Certification / Licensure / Registration:**
+ Associates degree is required in a physical science or healthcare related science is required.
+ Graduation from an accredited school of radiology technology with current radiology technology license in the state of California is preferred.
+ Current fluoroscopy permit from the State of California preferred.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification obtained through American Heart Association required.
+ American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification preferred.
+ Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) is preferred.
+ North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology (NASPE) certification is required within two years of hire.
+ Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification Required
+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification Required
Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and electrical physiology.
Training and demonstrated background in electrophysiology procedures is required. Experience in a general Cath Lab and experience with pediatric and adolescent EP patients is preferred.
**Skills and Knowledge:**
+ Working knowledge in electrophysiology is required, including cardiac anatomy and physiology, and diagnostic and interventional procedures.
+ Clinical research experience in EP, or a general Cath Lab is desireable.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in recognition and interpretation of ECG’s, and cardiac pathophysiology is required.
+ Knowledge of principles of radiation safety is required.
+ The incumbent will demonstrate the ability to operate a wide variety of physiologic monitors, recorders, radiofrequency ablation equipment, programmers, pacemakers, and defibrillators.
+ Computer skills include demonstrated proficiency in window’s based programs.
+ Should be adept at trouble shooting instrumentation and demonstrate resourcefulness in problem-solving.
