Reporting to the Vice President, Sutter Improvement System (SIS), the Director of SIS is a key resource for driving performance improvement across the Operating Units and Affiliates. The Director assists leadership in promoting and leading the implementation of the Sutter Improvement System across the enterprise. S/he coaches Executives and Senior Leaders in the development of their Lean leadership competencies and facilitates the Strategy Deployment process to ensure alignment with organizational goals. In cooperation with the SIS Governance Team, leads, supports and manages the development of SIS infrastructure, including standard tools & methods, knowledge management, education and promotion of Lean thinking across the enterprise. The Director is responsible for developing, leading and managing the SIS Office, which includes a staff of consultants who focus on teaching, coaching and implementing the SIS standards, as well as supporting the ongoing improvement of the standards.
Master's Degree or equivalent education/experience is required.
+ Prior management experience; healthcare industry experience and / or consulting or project management experience involving multiple functional departments / areas strongly preferred
+ 7-10 years experience with implementation of large scale improvement programs and projects, and demonstrated experiences with consulting on complex systems and projects
+ 5-10 years experience in a dedicated lean role involving coaching and/or consulting at the enterprise level.
+ Demonstrated success in teaching, coaching and implementation of the Strategy Deployment process, including a visual management system, at the executive level of an organization
+ Success in managing and achieving results across a large organization.
+ Experience leading organization-wide Lean transformation work with evidence of increasing level of responsibility
+ Understanding of and experience with Lean or other process improvement philosophies and methodologies
