The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide care and monitoring of patients with the functional guidance Psychiatric Consult and Liaison Physician. This care includes working closely in formulating the treatment plan and follow up of medication management for patients.
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
+ Master of Science or Master's Degree in Nursing required
+ Current License as a Register Nurse in the State of California required
+ Current License as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the State of California preferred
+ Current CPR Certification required
+ Valid DEA Certificate required
+ Minimum of two years prior experience in hospital acute care nursing of which at least one year is in the area of mental health providing direct patient care to adults, child and adolescent experience preferred.
+ Prior experience in a psychiatric outpatient setting is required.
+ Experience working in a psychiatric multidisciplinary team preferred.
+ Previous experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner preferred.
+ Program coordination or team leading experience is desirable.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of DSM IV-TR is required.
+ Demonstrated knowledge in the de-escalation of agitated, poorly self-controlled individuals.
+ Demonstrated knowledge in the prescribing of psychotropic medication required
+ Knowledge in the area of mental health counseling, to include assessment, interpretation, management and evaluation of patient care.
+ Program development, implementation and evaluation knowledge is preferred.
