The overall goal of Employee
Health Services (EHS) is to maintain optimum occupational health of our
employees control safety hazards particular to specific jobs, and assist
employees to develop a preventative attitude toward health and safety. This
position plays an integral role in achieving those overall goals by providing
the necessary general service support in order to assure the smooth flow of
work within the department.
The EHS Support Assistant
schedules appointments for the clinicians of the Employee Health Services
Clinics. This position works with Human Resources, Recruitment, and hiring
Department Managers/Supervisors to arrange a pre-employment health assessment
for each new hire.The EHS Support Assistant
maintains the front office and waiting area and assures the office is kept in
an orderly manner.This position assures
office par levels are maintained.The
EHS Support Assistant may assist clients in filling out the paperwork, such as
the Health Assessment and Health History Form/surveys by explaining questions.
The Employee Health Services clientele includes Sutter Health employees, CVR
physicians and Allied Health practitioners, MMC volunteers and CVR contract
**Education / Certifications:**
+ High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
+ Associate degree or equivalent work experience in secretarial/clerical related field preferred.
+ Successful completion of medical terminology course work required.
+ Related course work in office procedures / business skills is preferred.
+ A minimum of 2 years of recent secretarial/clerical work experience required.
+ Experience in a health care setting preferred.
**Skills / Knowledge:**
+ Commanding knowledge of English grammar and spelling and the ability to apply this knowledge to editing, charting and composing of correspondence, etc.
+ Demonstrates strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
+ Current proficiency in computer software programs to meet office needs, including database, spreadsheets, calendaring and email.
+ Ability to read, write, hear, and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job.
+ Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with tact, perseverance, and discretion. Ability to interact with employees and members of the general public in a professional, efficient manner.
+ Must posses and demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills, both on the telephone and in person.
+ Ability to effective manage own time and schedule own tasks.
+ Must have initiative to work efficiently without consistent supervision and direction.
