Job Description

**Position Overview:** The Acute Inpatient Cardiac/ACHD Nurse Practitioner (Cardiac NP) manages and coordinates the care of cardiology service patients and can specialize in one of two tracks. The Acute Inpatient Cardiac Nurse Practitioner:assesses and provides medical care and treatment utilizing standardized procedures, and multidisciplinary collaboration to provide best hospital outcomes.Population served includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, and interventional cardiology/surgical and medical cardiology practices.Acts proactively in the prevention of short term and long term complications of disease.The ACHD Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Congenital Heart Disease): provides advanced nursing practice to adults with congenital heart disease through and at all stages of an illness trajectory, delivered with autonomy of decision making and therapeutic action.This practice encompasses a documented responsibility for clinical leadership through the advancement of nursing practice. The incumbent is responsible for the promotion of high quality, evidence-based practice within their caseload and achievement of development, research and audit goals throughout the specialty. **Qualifications:** **Education** **Required are:** + Registered Nurse - State Licensure with an Adult or a Family Nurse Practitioner; with possession of or eligible to apply for, a furnishing number to dispense + Family Nurse Practitioner - NP + Nurse Practitioner Furnishing - NPF, a furnishing number and DEA# including schedule II-V + Basic Life Support Certification - BLS + Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS (preferred) **Experience:** + Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in an outpatient or inpatient cardiac setting and previous experience in cardiac related research studies is preferred. + Previous cardiology critical care experience is preferred. **Skills and Knowledge:** + Knowledge of current cardiac medical practice, knowledge of adult educational planning, implementation and evaluation. + Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary. + Clinical research skills, basic computer skills (access, enter and retrieve data; Word, and Excel skills preferred). + Must be able to work with autonomy, adaptability, flexibility and maintain composure during pressures and adverse conditions and work as an effective team member in a collaborative role with other disciplines. **Organization:** Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento **Employee Status:** Regular **Employee Referral Bonus:** No **Benefits:** No **Position Status:** Non-Exempt **Union:** No **Job Shift:** Day **Shift Hours:** 8 Hour Shift **Days of the Week Scheduled:** Monday-Friday **Weekend Requirements:** None **Schedule:** Per Diem **Hrs Per 2wk Pay Period:** 16 All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, registered domestic partner status, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, ancestry, national origin (including possession of a driver's license issued to individuals who did not present proof of authorized presence in the U.S.), age, medical condition, physical or mental disability, military or protected veteran status, political affiliation, pregnancy or perceived pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or related medical condition, genetic information or any other characteristic made unlawful by local, state, or federal law, ordinance or regulation.
