Job Description

Job Summary:
Under general direction, independently act as key contact for clients by providing daily support and performing a variety of personnel and payroll transactions. Manage employee information, personnel, payroll and salary actions, staff recruitment, position management, department benefits administration, medical and personal leave management, workers' compensation support, and special projects.

Physical Demands:
Work occasional overtime to meet operational deadlines.

Work Environment:

This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity checks.


Minimum Qualifications:
-Experience with human resources process and issues.

-Experience with the principles, practices, and trends of personnel management; including, but not limited to, State and Federal Labor Laws, Workers Compensation, benefits planning, disability actions, and family medical leave (FMLA, CFML, PDL, etc.).

-Experience using automated payroll/personnel systems and processes.

-Experience working in a customer service driven environment.

-Skills to extract, manipulate, and interpret data from electronic databases.

-Analytical skills to exercise independent judgment in problem solving, remain objective, and represent differing points of view.

-Experience using software such as Word, Excel, e-mail, calendar, and other computer programs to produce documents, forms, reports, and spreadsheets.

-Experience interpreting complex policies, procedures and practices.

-Analytical and computational skills necessary to calculate percentages when calculating payroll, leave, etc.

-Communication skills to develop written procedures, memos, etc., and convey to a diverse audience.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Knowledge of PPS, OPTRS, Banner, and FISDS and experience with PPS/OPTRS as a primary or secondary back up user status.

-Experience working with, and interpreting, labor contracts, compensation and classification plans and personnel programs/policies.

-Organizational skills to achieve timely progress on multiple
simultaneous complex projects, distribute effort
appropriately among the projects, meet tight deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy.

-Knowledge of the University's personnel policies, procedures and labor contracts.

-Experience researching, interpreting, and disseminating information to all levels of the organization.

-Experience facilitating and/or providing training to others.

-Decision making and problem solving skills.

-Experience processing Visas.
