The **Staff Physician/Medical Director** is responsible for the provision of primary care to SeniorCare participants. This includes evaluating and treating participants, managing their care, coordinating referral and follow-up with specialists, health education and disease prevention. Also, as Medical Director, this position is responsible for overseeing and evaluating the provision of medical services, including quality assessment and improvement and utilization review, clinical supervision of the SeniorCare’s other Staff Physician, oversight of contract physicians, and liaison with Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (SMCS).
+ Requires medical degree in internal medicine or family practice.
+ Board Certification in geriatric medicine is preferred.
+ Must have current, valid license to practice medicine in the State of California and **a** t least five years experience as a physician providing care to adults, including proven expertise in community-based long term care services for elders.
+ Must be active member in good standing of the Medical Staff of SMCS and must also maintain accountability to the Department of Medicine, Internal Medicine Section of the Medical Staff, including credentialing standards and maintaining privileges at SMCS. Some prior supervisory or management experience in a clinic setting is preferred.
+ Must have a strong knowledge base and clinical skills in geriatric medicine.
+ Must have a working knowledge of the problems and issues affecting frail elders, including experience working with caregivers/families and community providers.
+ Must have knowledge of effective utilization management and quality assurance activities.
+ Must have BLCS for the Professional
+ Must be able to work effectively with a interdisciplinary team.
+ Must have good oral and written communication skills.
+ Must be able to prioritize and cope with emergent situations.
+ Must have demonstrated a quality of practice that meets the highest standards.
