**Position Overview:** The **Registered Nurse** in the Mental Health setting manages the patient/family experience through utilization of critical thinking, teamwork, effective communication, and nursing judgment/knowledge/skills. **Principal Accountabilities** Community- Promotes a positive relationship between Sutter Health and the community. Finance - Utilizes resources to deliver quality care in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Growth-Actively manages patient/family plan of care to achieve optimal health goals for patient/family. People-Coordinates the activities of the health care team in a professional manner according to the Standards of Excellence promoting a positive work environment. Quality- Provides optimal care to patients' and family which is collaborative, evidence based and meets national/facility standards to achieve the best possible outcome. Service - Cares for patient/family according to the Sutter Difference standards and activities ensuring the best patient/family experience. **Qualifications:** **Education/ including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration** Current licensure California RN, BLS -Health Care Provider; Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BS preferred. **Knowledge:** Must have a working knowledge of State, federal laws and regulations that relate to mental health treatment. An understanding of the needs of children, adolescents, ECT, adults and geriatric adults for mental health treatment. Must be skilled in physician relations and staff supervision. Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements. The incumbent must be well versed in hospital and medical staff organization and structure; must be fluent in medical terminology. Must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills and effective English written and communication skills. **Experience:** Prior experience in nursing, preferably in a psychiatric inpatient setting. Experience working with all age populations is preferred. Demonstrated experience utilizing effective interpersonal communications, supervisory, organizational, and priority setting skills. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement patient focused multidisciplinary plan of care. **Skills:** Ability to work in a setting that includes working with patients of various ages who have mental illnesses. Adapts well to changing work environment. Maintains professional demeanor. Demonstrates effective interviewing skills and behavior observation skills. Good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to coordinate and organize multiple tasks required. Demonstrated written/oral communication. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, responsible parties and allied personnel. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Relates positively to customers inside and external to Sutter Center for Psychiatry. Must have computer skills. Has the ability to lead from a coaching role. Conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills in a complex environment are required. Tact, diplomacy, and ability to work with individuals on all levels of hospital and medical staff organization. Ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality. Leadership and team skills that enable working cooperatively. Work environment includes frequent interruptions. Must be available to flex hours in accordance with department needs.
