**Position Overview:** The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for educational and staff development activities to validate, develop and maintain bedside nursing staff skills and competencies. This includes responsibility for nursing orientation, nursing competency programs, and other programs and in-services as needed to maintain or enhance staff competency. The Clinical Nurse Educator is a resource for input into the development/revision of hospital and Nursing Services policies and procedures, and is responsible to maintain educational and competency records to meet Title 22 & JCAHO standards. This position requires the ability to work varied hours to provide coverage for all shifts. **The Clinical Nurse Educator, Generalist’s** primary accountabilities are for the development, coordination, presentations and evaluation of the generic Nursing Orientation program which includes baseline competency assessment of all new nursing employee hires, transfers and upgrades; preceptor programs, new graduate program workshops, Schools of Nursing clinical rotation placements and orientations, new product in-services, other in-services and training programs on a house-wide basis. The Generalist Educator maintains competence in house-wide clinical skills. **Qualifications:** **Education:** Current California RN License required. Two year college degree or greater in Nursing required. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or related healthcare field preferred. Masters Degree in Nursing or Education desired. **Experience:** Not less than 2 years acute care nursing experience within the last 5 years required. Documented teaching experience required. **Knowledge:** Concepts of educational needs assessment, planning, curriculum development, training implementation and evaluation of training is required. In-depth knowledge of clinical nursing practice for area(s) of assigned responsibility required. Advanced professional nursing certification in area of specialty is preferred.
