**Position Overview:** **POSITION SUMMARY** The Registered Nurse in the Acute Care setting manages the patient/family experience through utilization of criticalthinking, teamwork, effective communication, and nursing judgment/knowledge/skills. **Qualifications:** **MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS** **Education/including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration** Current licensure California RN or Interim Permitee; BLS -Health Care Provider; see attached for department and facility specific requirements. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BS preferred. **Knowledge:** Must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills and effective English written and communication skills. **Experience:** Significant experience working in a operating room supporting multi-specialties, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center is required, such as typically obtained in approximately 3 years is required Experience with the pediatric population is preferred. **Skills/Knowledge:** Requires the ability to assists the physician during surgery and procedures by functioning in the circulating role. The position coordinates the activities of the Anesthesiologist, Surgical Technologist, and Surgeon to ensure safe patient care. Requires the ability to ensure patient safety through appropriate transport, transfer and positioning of patient. Requires the ability to ensure appropriate levels of supplies and equipment to provide safe patient care. Requires the ability to monitor the environment to ensure sterile technique is maintained throughout the procedure Requires the ability to operate and trouble shoot OR surgical equipment Requires the ability to perform professional intra-operative nursing care of the patient by utilizing the nursing care process and making a plan for patient care. Must be flexible, and open to change along with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
