Job Description

**Position Overview:** As the Director, Special Investigations Unit (SIU), you will manage Sutter Health’s comprehensive system wide Special Investigations Program to ensure achievement of annual goals and objectives. You will influence initiatives and decisions of key multidisciplinary functions across the enterprise specific to the handling of critical investigations and will guide the SVP, Chief People and Culture Officer in her leadership of the Interdisciplinary Advisory Team. Additionally, you will be accountable to: • Provide day-to-day leadership to the SIU team • Ensure that universal investigative protocols, tools and templates are established and maintained • Oversee delivery of a comprehensive investigator orientation and ongoing training program • Build and maintain strong collaboration and linkages between investigators and related disciplines across the enterprise • Lead the adoption of an effective document retention process for investigations across all disciplines • Collaborate with the Advisory Team to establish the protocols for handling high risk investigations • Document investigative results and corrective action plans ensuring that are easily understandable to auditors, regulators, and others, as appropriate Our ideal candidate will possess superior interpersonal qualities with an ability to articulate a vision and influence others in the support of broad objectives and accomplishment of strategic aims. Excellent consultation, persuasion and negotiation skills to move others to take appropriate action toward identified/positive outcomes are essential. Travel may be required on short notice and during non-standard work hours. **Qualifications:** **Qualifications** • Master’s Degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or closely related field or equivalent education/experience • Valid, non-restricted Driver License upon hire • 7 or more years of experience investigating major potential compliance, privacy, fraud, abuse or other serious misconduct • Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, requirements and standards, including those of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), the Office of the Inspector General (HRS/OIG) and other related divisions of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), federal and state anti-kickback and physician self-referral laws (e.g. Stark and PORA), provider/practitioner licensure and scope of practice requirements, privacy and consent laws • Working knowledge of healthcare compliance, privacy, billing compliance and/or employment law • Experience with curriculum design for professional adult learners • Well-developed skills in problem identification/analysis/resolution, organization/prioritization, timeliness and attention to detail **Preferred Qualifications** • Graduate of accredited law enforcement training academy • Interview and interrogation experience in a corporate or law enforcement investigative environment • Healthcare experience • Experience as a Government or Corporate Investigator, such as for the FBI, Department of Justice or other related corporation **Organization:** Sutter Health System Office **Employee Status:** Regular **Benefits:** Yes **Position Status:** Exempt **Union:** No **Job Shift:** Day **Shift Hours:** 8 Hour Shift **Days of the Week Scheduled:** Monday-Friday **Weekend Requirements:** Other **Schedule:** Full Time **Hrs Per 2wk Pay Period:** 80 All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, registered domestic partner status, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, ancestry, national origin (including possession of a driver's license issued to individuals who did not present proof of authorized presence in the U.S.), age, medical condition, physical or mental disability, military or protected veteran status, political affiliation, pregnancy or perceived pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or related medical condition, genetic information or any other characteristic made unlawful by local, state, or federal law, ordinance or regulation.
