Job Description

**Position Overview:** To provide leadership and oversight of the IQS functions including the activities of planning, coordinating, and guiding for the integrated functions of quality assessment and improvement, accreditation and licensure, infection control, medical staff services, and safety within the Integrated Quality Services Department. Provides assistance to the Sutter Health Valley Area Executive – Quality & Safety (SHVA Executive Quality/Safety), in IQS integrated functions to assure alignment to Valley Area IQS processes, systems, and priorities. Assimilates information to proactively develop quality activities aligned with SMCS's strategies and values. Proactively builds strong teams and business relationships, both internally and externally. Serves as a resource and subject matter expert (SME) on aspects of the quality program to develop and influence improvement strategies. Supports the development and implementation of clinical assessment/process improvement and redesign. The director participates on a team that works toward identifying the best clinical and operational improvement practices for the organization. Pursues opportunities for work that adds value and eliminates waste and redundancy for the organization to help achieve and retain optimal quality outcomes. Has significant responsibility for working with the organization to pursue operational improvements and efficiencies. **Qualifications:** **Education:** + Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field is required. + Master's degree in healthcare administration or related field is preferred. + California RN license is preferred. + Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) is preferred. + A certificate in Risk Management from the American Hospital Association or an Associate in Risk Management designation from the American Institute of Insurance is desirable. **Experience:** + Recent acute hospital experience which includes experience in a role with leadership/supervisory responsibility, and experience in quality assessment, performance improvement, or continuous quality improvement. + Experience directly related to healthcare. Experience must include healthcare operations, project management roles, healthcare consulting, and strong healthcare analytic responsibilities with hospitals or hospital systems. + Recent Project Management experience in a healthcare setting. Project management training or certification. + Recent experience directly related to creation, manipulation, and management of complex data sets, analytical tools, and database applications for healthcare organizations. + Lean and/or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification or significant experience in use of lean concepts and willing to become certified **Skills and Knowledge:** + Experience in use of Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint applications with proven ability to work within and generate statistical reports. + Must possess excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills, including a strong ability to make presentations to a variety of professional and lay audiences. + Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities and departments, including medical staff members. + Ability to function independently with minimal management. + Current knowledge of California State regulations pertaining to healthcare facilities is preferred. + Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement a program in a healthcare setting is required. + Prior experience using skills in communication, supervision, organization and setting priorities is required. + Conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills are required. + Tact, diplomacy, ability to work with individuals in all levels of hospital and medical staff organization. + Ability to work with confidential information. + Leadership and team skills that enable working cooperatively with diverse groups of people in all facilities. **Organization:** Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento **Employee Status:** Regular **Benefits:** Yes **Position Status:** Exempt **Union:** No **Job Shift:** Day **Shift Hours:** 8 Hour Shift **Days of the Week Scheduled:** Monday-Friday **Weekend Requirements:** Other **Schedule:** Full Time **Hrs Per 2wk Pay Period:** 80 All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, registered domestic partner status, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, ancestry, national origin (including possession of a driver's license issued to individuals who did not present proof of authorized presence in the U.S.), age, medical condition, physical or mental disability, military or protected veteran status, political affiliation, pregnancy or perceived pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or related medical condition, genetic information or any other characteristic made unlawful by local, state, or federal law, ordinance or regulation.
