Job Description

Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Center for Student Affairs Assessment provide leadership for the Division in program evaluation and assessment to foster an evidence-based culture of inquiry into the practices and conditions that foster academic success, student development and campus community. Provide analysis, information, and recommendations that lead to successful coordination and Division-wide implementation of program, services and facilities assessment learning to improve student life at UCD.

Assist program director and staff with the integration of assessment results into program review processes. Provide expertise on use of multiple advanced statistical methods to assemble statistical reports and analyze assessment results through research methodological approach. Provide assistance and coordination with randomization modeling, statistical analysis, data collection, storage processes relating to campus-wide assessment, and with the implementation of assessment activities in compliance with accreditation requirements and standards.

Assist program director and staff with research design and the integration of assessment results (formative and summative evaluation) into program review processes. Provide expertise on use of multiple advanced statistical methods to assemble statistical reports and analyze assessment results. Provide assistance and coordination with statistical analysis, data collection, storage processes relating to campus-wide assessment, and with the implementation of assessment activities in compliance with accreditation requirements and standards.

Contribute to campus-wide collaborations on research and evaluation studies to address important questions related to student academic, social, cultural, personal and civic development and policies to support the decision processes of Student Affairs.
The Division of Student Affairs encompasses 24 defined departments or units with operational budgets exceeding $414 million annually. With approximately 2.5 million square feet of assignable space, the division is served by 756 professional staff and approximately 3,000 student employees.

Physical Demands:
-Sit at desk/computer for extended period of time.

Work Environment:
-Work in open workspace environment with office noise.

-Employee is personally responsible for following safety procedures/guidelines.

-Manage and complete projects in an environment of interruptions, background distractions, traffic and noise from computer printers, copier, telephones ringing, and conversations.

-Position is a mandatory reporter for known or suspected child abuse and requires that a statement acknowledging the requirement to report child abuse be signed.

-UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
-Master's degree in higher education/student affairs, social sciences, or related field.

-Skills performing qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, advanced statistical methods and reporting.

-Knowledge and understanding of both theory and practical application of program evaluation and assessment, planning, and methods in a higher education environment.

-Understanding of data analysis in parametric and non-parametric statistics and how to turn data into actionable insights in true/natural experimentation setting.

- Experience in both Quantitative and Qualitative research methodology and proved experience in evaluation, study design, data management and research analysis across disciplines.

-Expertise in data analysis, SQL, Oracle Banner and software applications to practice, including the skills to use statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, etc.) in normalized/de-normalize data.

-Written and oral communication skills to work collaboratively with development application engineers, quantitative/qualitative researchers and senior executive administrators.

-Organizational and project management skills to assess effective and efficient models in organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:
-PhD in higher education, social sciences or related field.
