Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Global Cloud Engineering, the Senior Engineer will provide solution engineering support for Linux, Solaris and AIX Server Build Automation and Server Infrastructure in our Global Data Centers.   Solutions will be collaboratively developed with, but not limited to, our infrastructure engineers and architects, Application Development, database teams and industry partners.  Additionally, Tier 3 engineering on-call support will be provided for the Franklin Templeton Operations organization for the same infrastructure environment.    Primary disciplines the Senior Engineer will be responsible for include Linux and Solaris deployments, server automation builds across the global landscape, process automation, scripting, and Cisco UCS infrastructure design and engineering. Secondary disciplines will include cross-platform server engineering for Microsoft Windows. Specific Responsibilities:

  • Engineering and lifecycle planning support for RHEL 6/7 and Solaris 10/11/12
  • Automated provisioning of Linux/Solaris servers with BMC BSA (Bladelogic Server Automation) including OS, Storage, Networking automation
  • Process owner for Cisco UCS server infrastructure supporting system lifecycle management
  • Solutions will include addressing project technical requirements, building technical solution documents/diagrams, financial cost considerations, transitions to operational processes and Operational runbook turnover
  • Efficiently fulfill customer and business demand by partnering with Architects, Operations and other stakeholders to  design, communicate and implement Strategies, Technology Roadmaps, Standards, Processes and Services
  • Partner with Global Information Security to develop server and OS configuration standards that deliver security capabilities which ensure security, audit and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Provide Capacity Planning and Performance Management for the assigned environments and integrate/execute with infrastructure capacity planning processes
  • Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies and processes
  • Independently and as a team member, lead, influence and mentor technical concepts/methods and associated engineering lifecycle processes.  Make and influence technical decisions
  • Mentor junior team members and support teams to enhance their skills and abilities
  • Partner with Operations to establish criteria and execution to ensure proper transition from Engineering to Operational areas for project/technology delivery and production support
  • Contribute to and/or lead the triage and resolution of escalated, complex problems to ensure timely restoration or quality of service
