The Public Safety Radio Dispatcher Trainee position is an entry level training position in the Communications Unit of the Police Department.
Salary Range: $81,026--$98,488 with a $6,000 hiring bonus and 5% on going non-pensionable pay
The key responsibilities for Public Safety Radio Dispatcher Trainee include:
Learn to dispatch police personnel and equipment on both routine and emergency calls
Maintains accurate record of location and status of public safety units.
Uses a computer aided dispatch system, video display terminals, radio dispatching consoles, and related equipment
Inquiring, interpreting, verifying, receiving, and disseminating information from law enforcement computer networks relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, address checks, etc.
Answering the telephone and receiving emergency, non-emergency, and 9-1-1 requests for assistance.(must learn all PSCS 911 call taker duties)
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Verification of eligibility to work in the United States
High School diploma or equivalent
Police Background check
3 years customer service experience
