Under the direction of an Accounting Administrator I, the incumbent independently reimburse local assistance project invoices, encumbers the availability of funds, and performs moderately difficult accounting duties to ensure local agencies are reimbursed timely. This position requires a broad understanding of Caltrans’ accounting procedures, knowledge of multiple fund types, accounting systems, federal and state regulations, the Local Assistance programs, and acts as a liaison for federal and state funded Local Assistance projects.

While at their base of operation, employees will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial light. However, due to periodic problems with the heating and air conditioning, the building temperature may fluctuate. Most employees will work in workstations within shared cubicles. Working hours will be set sometime between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Overtime may be required with prior written approval and vacation may be restricted during peak times and fiscal year-end closing. Employees may be required to travel in state, but travel is not very frequent. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
