This position is located in a high-rise building in downtown Sacramento, in the Business Tax and Fee Division. Under the general supervision of the Supervising Tax Auditor III, Program Administration Branch, the Business Taxes Specialist I, serves as a project lead and coordinates multifaceted business tax and fee program projects. The incumbent will be responsible for developing policies and procedures with other California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) units, state government agencies, other state revenue agencies and the federal government. The incumbent will be responsible for complex special projects, preparing written correspondence on the application of tax and fee laws with tax/fee payers, participate in the interaction with CDTFA management, accountants, tax managers, directors, accounting firms, and attorneys. The incumbent must obtain and utilize a complete knowledge of all aspects of the Tax Policy Bureau's functions, the software and mainframe applications utilized by the CDTFA, the appeals process, audit process, compliance process, collection functions, procedures and protocols of the various CDTFA units. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for being familiar with the regulatory, legislative and budget processes administered by the CDTFA.
