The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the Enterprise Database Services - Mainframe Group. Under direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager I, the incumbent functions as an IT Specialist I, and works as a Database Administrator on complex systems assignments that support the EDD's Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS). The incumbent will plan and track activities within Mainframe RDBMS systems areas. The incumbent will perform the majority of their duties under the System Engineering domain. Duties will include: Planning and tracking long range Mainframe Db2 activities within the Mainframe Db2 systems areas Prioritizing and monitoring the activities of the Mainframe Db2 Support Team to ensure technical tasks are carried out in a timely manner Managing and maintaining many of the Department's mission critical applications Ensuring database software is maintained and up-to-date Coordinating with the Mainframe Db2 support staff at the California Department of Technology to install and maintain versions of Mainframe Db2 software and tools to meet Departmental service level requirements Ensuring that adequate database capacity is maintained Monitoring proper performance related to projected and anticipated data and transactions growth Designing proper interfaces with other systems Providing technical solutions consistent with Departmental and Branch strategic direction Creating and maintaining EDD's numerous and complex test environments Keeping management informed and apprised of changes required to support on-going systems to meet the needs of the Department Providing after-hours support for EDD's mission critical applications Position is located at EDD's Headquarters office, Sacramento, California.
