Under the guidance and general direction of the Contract Manager, a Staff Services Manager I, the Office Technician (Typing) is independently responsible for a wide spectrum of the most difficult clerical and administrative duties to support the Department of Transportation Legal Division Statewide Contracts Unit and performs clerical support to Expert Witness Contract Analysts.
Operate a personal computer, utilizing various approved software programs to type and/or compose procedures and reports that pertain to the Legal Division Statewide Contracts unit which may include confidential/sensitive information. Preserve all expert witness contracts for execution by the Department of General Services. Input all necessary expert witness contract data into the Legal Division database system (CATS) as required under the delegated authority of the Department of Procurement and Contracts. Maintain contract files and prepare for record retention. Using Fi$Cal, assists in the processing of vendor contract information.
Using various software programs organize and complete assignments related to processing contracts semantically or categorically always tracking the status of all contracts processed by legal staff. Provides monthly status reports to management preparing concise summaries of information related to ongoing contracts. Assist analysts with photocopying, retrieving files, researching contract status, and maintaining all contract documents are current.
Responds to all incoming calls from the departments accounting division related to processing of invoices. Responds to all inquiries of expert witness contracts for Legal Division statewide.
Provides Clerical support to analysts on an as-needed basis. Deliver claims documents to appropriate statewide district offices using various methods of mailing i.e. electronic, FedEx, UPS, etc. Provide clerical assistance to all other Legal division staff and management for contract related duties as needed.
Effective July 1, 2020, in response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020). PLP 2020 directs that each full-time employee will continue to work their assigned work schedule and shall receive a 9.23 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 16 hours PLP 2020 leave credits, monthly.

Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and maintain a helpful, positive attitude. Should have the ability to work on a keyboard; have manual dexterity; develop and maintain cooperative relationships; ability to focus for long periods of time. Must be able to lift and move items weighing at least 50 pounds.

A current typing certificate (Issued within the past four years) verifying typing speed of a minimum of 40 wpm is required for this position.
