Perform professional electrical engineering work in the planning, design, technical investigation, and construction of public works and building related projects.
The Associate Electrical Engineer is the full journey level class in the electrical engineering series requiring registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California and prior advanced professional electrical engineering work experience.
An Associate Electrical Engineer works under general supervision and is expected to complete complex electrical engineering assignments requiring the use of judgement and initiative in developing solutions to problems, interpreting general policies, and determining work assignments. Work in this class is distinguished from that of the Assistant Electrical Engineer class by the greater complexity of the assignments received and by the greater independence with which an incumbent is expected to operate. Direction is provided by a higher level professional engineer or a division head level position. Responsibilities of an Associate Electrical Engineer may include the direct or indirect supervision of lower level professional engineers and technical personnel.
