Blue Diamond Growers (BDG) is seeking an experienced Associate Brand Manager - International Consumer to join its winning team in Sacramento, CA. 

This position will provide leadership and coordination of International Innovation and New Product Development initiatives. Provide marketing support to the Marketing Team by helping to manage day to day International business needs including business analysis and program execution.

  • Leads International Innovation and New Product Development by closely collaborating with cross functional team members to vet, develop and introduce almond products into the marketplace.  Ensures that “where we play” is in line with Innovation pillars.  Work collaboratively with the Innovation and R & D teams, and co-lead strategic innovation initiatives.

  • Leads NPD Project Management Team to ensure commercial execution for new product launches and line extensions:

    • Completes I2L paperwork

    • Meeting Agendas/Notes

  • Explores and evaluates new category / product opportunities outside Innovation Marketing focus.

    • Identification of new product strategies, products and categories for Blue Diamond brands internationally.

    • Identify, analyze, and anticipate consumer and market trends and opportunities to maximize Blue Diamond’s competitive position.

    • Utilize syndicated and custom research to provides insight into current and future product categories.

  • Leads efforts for exploration of new processing and packaging to meet International market needs.

  • Leads packaging design improvements and changes.

  • Compiles standardized monthly shipment and syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen) reports to identify business problems and opportunities and aid marketing plan development and execution.

  • Analyzes primary and secondary research to support business development.

  • Creates “PowerPoint” presentations to illustrate analytical findings.

  • Updates and maintains pricing into Blue Diamond database system (SAP).

  • Ensures the accuracy and timely updating of price lists for all regions and channels of trade.

  • Maintains product/packaging specification databases (both internal and external).

  • Manages creation and content of all sales literature.

  • Coordinates timetables, projects list, status reports and communication between agencies, marketing, procurement and department management for all elements of marketing mix:product, packaging, promotion and advertising.

  • Assists Brand Manager with package/product/advertising execution.

  • Functions as the “Point Person” and administrator for website.

  • Manages Almond Library asset collection database.

  • Coordinates new product sample requests and distribution of sales collateral.

  • team by providing marketing assistance to grow Blue Diamond’s US food service.

  • Develops and maintains record of product and package specifications, new item codes, UPC codes, etc.Enters data into Blue Diamond database (SAP).

  • Works with Supply Chain and Operations to help maintain adequate packaging inventory, materials, and confirmation of purchase order deliveries.

  • Prepares monthly marketing budget status report, maintains media budget ledger, facilitates payment of vendor invoices, prepares appropriate paperwork for ABC, MAP and manages organized budget filing system.

  • Assist in the management of Government funding programs and supporting agencies.

Minimum level of education required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.  MBA in marketing, business or related degree, preferred.

Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience

  • 2 years of Brand Management experience for a consumer products organization, preferably food.

Other required type(s) of functional experience:

  • Experience interacting and communicating effectively with a wide and diverse range of audiences, ranging from internal senior level managers to line managers, as well as analytical people.

  • Experience developing internal relationships, demonstrating team-building attitude, conveying a sense of urgency and show a willingness to listen to suggestions from others.

  • Must be able to maintain strong client relations. Must be able to gain cooperation from all employees without direct line responsibility.

  • Must be organized and able to solve problems systematically.

  • Required to read, interpret and analyze data to provide concise recommendations and points of view on a wide range of topics.

  • Required to possess excellent computer skills and working knowledge of spreadsheets, PowerPoint, email, word processing and database programs.Must have working knowledge of internet navigation and research techniques.

  • Must be a quick learner, flexible, able to work without a great deal of supervision, able and willing to make decisions on own and possess a good understanding of internal operations.Must be willing to take responsibility for activities and projects outside of primary job description. 

Preferred Skills and Experience (Specialized education, specific software experience, etc.)

  • Experience working under minimal supervision.

  • Familiarity with traditional consumer research methodologies including consumer taste tests, focus groups, and equity studies.

  • Skilled in interpersonal communications.

  • Experience leading cross functional teams and working collaboratively with multiple internal and external team members.

  • Knowledge of IRI data and the ability to analyze and make recommendations based on the data.

  • Experience working with agencies (advertising, media, packaging, etc.) and driving them to produce outstanding results.
