Job Description

Senior Payroll Manager directs and coordinates activities of department in order to pay employees, as well as compile payroll information by managing payroll preparation; data integrity, data reports and compliant data maintenance.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate activities of payroll staff
Manage payroll workload to meet operational requirement
Proactive leadership and direction to ensure the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly and weekly payroll in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and company policy
Assist leadership in managing payroll vendors and service providers
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal staff, other departments and with our operations team
Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements
Assist with month-end accounting close
Review and improve payroll policies and procedures
Oversee the maintenance of current employee payroll data systems; ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements; manage and resolve issues relating to payroll processing
Support all internal and external audits related to payroll
Ability to deliver results with cross functional teams and other departments
Ability to identify and implement scalable solutions that improve services, business controls and employee
Understanding the business and initiate opportunities for improvement
Maintains payroll staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training
Works with systems team in developing reports for department heads, regional leadership, regulatory bodies, and responsible for leading a team in the delivery and accuracy of those reports
Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a four-year college or university with 7+ years of manager experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience Managing payroll for over 5000+ Union/non-union environments
  • Multi-State Experience
  • Experience in Ultipro Software Highly REcommended
  • Experience managing an in-house payroll operations team
  • May be required to have a valid drivers license
  • Certified Payroll (CPP or FPC) preferred or obtain within 2 years within the position
