Division Controller Sacramento, California Temporary Full-Time SUMMARY Reporting to the President, with secondary reporting to Head Office, located in Vancouver, Canada, the Division Controller is responsible for CCBM’s financial reporting, ensuring corporate tax compliance, documenting and maintaining internal controls, and overseeing day-to-day accounting processes within a division of a public company. This temporary position is for a maternity leave coverage. EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS Financial Management Take a leadership role in month-end closing processes under tight reporting deadlines Review in detail and approve monthly, quarterly and annual divisional financial statements prior to submission to the division’s President and corporate head office Report monthly, quarterly and annual financial results in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to corporate head office for consolidation Provide regular updates to the division’s President and the corporate head office with respect to financial results and year-over-year variances Work with external accountants to ensure compliance with U.S. corporate tax laws Liaise with external auditors regarding annual audit requests Coordinate the division’s annual budgeting process Participates in evaluating, improving and documenting internal controls Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvements and implementing new processes Responsible for division’s daily cash management People Management As a member of the senior management team, actively contribute to the division’s operating and strategic planning Manage the division’s finance team consisting of 6 direct reports Promote best practices, creative thinking, effective planning and timely decision-making Create and maintain a positive, productive, and transparent work environment and team atmosphere Establish priorities and allocate work to ensure that the accounting staff are organized and the department operates at maximum efficiency Manage day-to-day activities of direct reports to ensure adherence to established deadlines while maintaining quality of work efforts Address employee issues in a fair and consistent manner Human Resources Oversees the Human Resources function for the US businesses Information Technology Oversees the Information Technology function for the US businesses KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES CPA designation is required 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with minimum 3 years of public accounting/auditing experience Experience with a publicly traded company Corporate and sales tax experience preferred Solid, practical understanding of IFRS Strong analytical, financial, and accounting skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Detail oriented with strong problem solving and decision making skills Advanced knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook Experience with an ERP system Must demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business CPA Designation Classification: Exempt Transportation: own vehicle is required as public transportation is not available in the area Employment Status: temporary full time Work Location: 7512 14th Ave, Sacramento, CA 95820 California Cascade Building Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
