The El Dorado County Transit Authority (El Dorado Transit) provides public transportation for the western slope of El Dorado County. Fixed route, dial-a-ride and paratransit services provide mobility in the communities of Pollock Pines, Camino, Placerville, Diamond Springs, El Dorado, Shingle Springs, Cameron Park and El Dorado Hills. Commuter trips connect El Dorado County to Folsom and Sacramento. The Connector route, in association with Capitol Corridor and Amtrak, links Sacramento with western El Dorado County and South Lake Tahoe.
Established in 1975, El Dorado Transit initially served seniors and persons with disabilities in the greater Placerville area. Public transit service became available to the general public in July 1980, with a combination of fixed-route deviation and demand-response services.
