USA Softball of Sacramento – Umpire Job Description

USA Softball of Sacramento is seeking individuals to join our umpire team. Accepted applicants will be trained and guided through the process of becoming registered with USA Softball.

Status/Compensation:

This is an independent contractor position and officials are not considered employees of USA Softball of Sacramento. As an independent contractor, you choose when and where you work and games are assigned on your availability and preferences.

Position Concept:

The individual would work in our tournament and/or league program officiating softball games for USA Softball. There are adult slowpitch and youth fastpitch games available and there is training provided in each discipline.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Register and obtain insurance through USA Softball of Sacramento
  2. Acquire the necessary uniform and equipment
  3. Attend local training sessions and rules meetings to gain knowledge
  4. Use the Arbiter to accept/decline assignments
  5. Professionally and courteously officiate games in the USA Softball Program.

Qualifications:

Accepted applicants will attend training sessions and clinics which will include classroom (rules, handling situations, professionalism) and field (plate and base mechanics drills) sessions. You will be assisted thru the USA Softball testing process. Qualified applicants will be professional, enthusiastic and responsible. No prior experience in officiating or playing baseball/softball is required.
