The Entry-Level SAP Security Administrator provides technical and analytical support for SAP Security and Identity Management across all SMUD platforms (e.g., ECC, S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, BW, SAC) and related systems. This position assists in ensuring the availability, integrity, and security of SMUD’s SAP and NON-SAP enterprise applications. Under the close guidance of senior team members, the Entry-Level SAP Security Administrator supports SMUD’s IT security objectives through access administration, basic configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of security controls for enterprise applications.
This role participates in day-to-day SAP Security operations, learns to identify and resolve access issues, and gains experience with security best practices to protect confidential and critical business data. The Entry-Level SAP Security Administrator is encouraged to grow their SAP security skillset and support the security and reliability of SMUD’s technology environment.
This role offers structured learning, mentorship, and hands-on training in SAP Security fundamentals. The Entry-Level SAP Security Administrator is expected to develop proficiency in supporting the availability, integrity, and security of SMUD’s enterprise applications, and to prepare for potential advancement to Journey-level SAP Security roles.
We are posting this opportunity for the Entry SAP Security Administrator along with our Journey SAP Security Administrator level position. The department will be filling one position at either of those levels. If you are interested in the Journey SAP Security Administrator position you will need to apply to that position separately.
This position is a hybrid role and does require the selected candidate to reside in the Sacramento region by the selected start date.
To assist with performing specialized technical and analytical support in the area of SAP information technology security to ensure the availability, integrity and security of SMUD's SAP infrastructure.
There are four (4) levels in this job classification series that have similar job content but with progressively more challenging degrees and levels of skill, responsibility, knowledge, experience, and qualification requirements:
Flex classifications (that permit progression from lower-level classes to higher level classes without examination based upon assessment of an individual’s experience and performance) within the series:
Non-Flex classifications (that promote from lower-level classes to higher level classes and require an examination, such as an interview, based upon individual experience and performance) within the series:
Entry/Intermediate to Journey: Incumbents at the entry (or intermediate) level are required to successfully “progress” to the journey level within 60 months of appointment to remain within the job series.
Seniors must be hired through a promotional process and do not automatically progress from lower levels in the series.
Basic safety policies and practices and standard office procedures; Fundamental concepts of information security, SAP user and role management, and security administration; Techniques and practices for problem identification and resolution, and methods used in planning and organizing work activities; Basic understanding of security within client/server environments and networking fundamentals; Familiarity with data privacy, security regulations, and confidentiality requirements.
Use computers and job-relevant software applications; Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally; Learn and apply new technical concepts under supervision and follow established policies and procedures to resolve issues; Manage assigned work effectively and request assistance as appropriate; Maintain integrity in handling confidential information.
