The California Correctional Training and Rehabilitation Authority (CALCTRA) formerly the California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) provides incarcerated individuals with life-changing career development opportunities so they may be productive, successful contributors when they return to their communities. As a self-funded state entity, CALCTRA prioritizes rehabilitation through vocational programs and supporting second chances, while training participants to produce quality products and services for its customers. Thousands of incarcerated individuals have received valuable job training through CALCTRA, and many graduates have successful careers.
CALCTRA is cost effective and saves the state millions of dollars annually through lower recidivism. A University of California, Irvine study found that CALCTRA participants have a 15% return-to-custody rate after three years, meaning 85% do not return to prison.
CALCTRA values leadership, rehabilitation, professionalism, integrity, teamwork, innovation, safety, and accountability. When you work at CALCTRA, you contribute to career training, quality products, and changed lives.
