Power Generation is seeking a Business Technology Analyst to work closely with the Power Generation Systems Program Manager, primarily in person, on the Acquire to Retire (ATR) S/4HANA transformation initiative. This limited-term position is anticipated to last as long as four years, supporting workstream leads and our System Integrator throughout the ATR workstream, which covers the full lifecycle of SMUD's critical assets-from acquisition and daily operations to ongoing maintenance and eventual retirement.
In this role, you will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to document requirements, support solution design, and help implement new business processes with S/4HANA. You will often assist with day-to-day troubleshooting, process enhancements, and system upgrades. Assignments may also include supporting general business initiatives or resolving issues in primary applications such as SAP, Documentum, and Mclaren.

Provides analytical support to assigned business units by applying business and information technology solutions to a broad range of business unit processes and applications; functions as a specialist in one or more areas such as systems analysis, application development, or application support; performs table configuration and maintenance of software systems used to support business applications pertinent to the business unit.
This series describes classes assigned to Departmental Business Units. The primary focus of these classes is to support business unit systems, applications, and activities where depth of knowledge of business unit functions and processes are critical to job success. Business Technology Analysts function as IT business specialists where breadth of experience and knowledge in one or more areas of lT work such as systems analysis, application development, or application support are used in the development, management and maintenance of business unit systems and applications. The Business Technology Analyst is the journey or full working level of the series. Positions within this classification work independently in the development, enhancement, and/or maintenance of business technology systems and applications which are standard to complex in terms of system complexity. May serve as a team member on a major project or exercise project management of small to medium size IT projects with responsibility for providing training and support to business units.
Principles and concepts of data management; specialized business unit work processes and fundamentals; concepts of IT system applications, including desktop, client-server and mainframe environments; centralized and distributed concepts; analytical methods and research techniques; methods and techniques of troubleshooting and problem resolution; principles of project planning and scheduling; system development life cycles; business system design methods and techniques; methods and techniques of application development and integration; database design theory and implementation; principles of data retrieval and reporting; information processing hardware, software, and data communications; pertinent SMUD and departmental policies, procedures, and standards; office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Write functional design specifications, policy and reports documentation; conduct feasibility studies; provide effective consultation to users/clients; apply analytical thinking to resolve business and IT application problems; develop, test, and implement IT applications; learn new and existing IT technologies, tools and methods to support and develop business applications; translate technical terminology into non-technical terms; work independently or in a team atmosphere to develop and support IT business applications; manage and organize workload on several projects simultaneously; prepare reports and make presentations; communicate effectively orally and in writing internally/externally; establish and maintain effective working relationships internally/externally.

This position will be required to work onsite one or more days a week on a regular basis; sometimes more or less, depending on the work and, at any of our SMUD locations. Please be aware that should SMUD’s business needs change, emergencies occur, or various other reasons arise, you may be required to report onsite on a part-time or full-time basis.
