Operations Tech Level 1 - General Laborer

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
The role of the Level One Operations Technician is to engage in vessel operations per the 
superintendent’s instruction. Level One Techs are relied upon for their skills in operating all 
equipment related to the cleaning of vessel cargo holds, as well as basic operations of some 
heavy machinery onboard. Level One Techs are responsible for maintaining a safe, clean work 
space, and engaging in the company’s safety program for all operations.

JOB DUTIES
• All necessary labor related to cleaning cargo holds, including but not limited to 
mobilization, loading, setup of machinery, and physically cleaning holds
• Certification and operation of aerial lifts per in-house certification program
• Operation of high pressure washing equipment used to clean cargo holds
• Certification and operation of front-end loaders used during cargo discharge per inhouse certification program
• Manual cleaning of cargo holds and adjacent spaces with hand tools including but not 
limited to brooms, brushes, scrapers, and shovels
• Driving company vehicles to and from work sites
• Participation in the company safety program including onsite and online training

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• I-9 Compliant
• Valid driver license
• High School equivalency
• No disqualifying conditions for Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) 
program

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting both onboard vessels and in the warehouse
• Working outdoors in a marine environment in most weather conditions, excluding 
unsafe conditions
• Working day and night shifts
• Exposure to loud noises
• Exposure to airborne irritants (dust/smoke)
• Travel is required up to 50% of the time. Travel is compensated per the employee 
handbook
