The Sacramento County Office of Education is seeking a knowledgeable payroll leader to manage compensation, benefits, and multi-district payroll operations.
This position plans, coordinates, and supervises payroll auditing and reporting activities, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws related to taxes, retirement systems, and employee benefits. Candidates will be responsible for reviewing financial data, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate records for audits and regulatory reporting. The role includes supervising technical staff, collaborating with state and federal agencies, and contributing to department process improvements. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-driven professional who thrives in a service-focused environment.
Candidates should bring a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, ideally with a focus in accounting or business, along with progressively responsible experience in payroll, public accounting, budgetary analysis, auditing, and business management. Experience working in a school district or governmental agency is preferred.
Salary: $140,036.48 per year (25/26)
Benefits: $1,023.58 per month for single health coverage, $1,698.58 for two-party, or $1,898.58 for family (includes medical, dental, life, and vision). TSA options are available.
Location: Mather, CA 95655
Typical Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
