**Job Summary** **AECOM** is actively seeking a highly motivated Principal Geotechnical Engineer for employment in our Sacramento, California office to lead geo/civil engineering and design services for large water infrastructure projects. This position will involve working with a multidisciplinary team of civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, environmental engineers, geologists, and environmental scientists to plan, design, and construct large water infrastructure projects. **At AECOM, we’re delivering a better world.** We believe infrastructure creates opportunity for everyone. We’re one global team – 50,000 strong – driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world. **The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:** + Lead geotechnical engineering and design for dams, levees, tunnels, tailing, highways, transit, mines, buildings, and other projects + Plan and mentor mid-level engineers in the planning of complex field explorations, review exploration logs, evaluate exploration data and review laboratory testing plans to ensure the testing plans meet project objectives. + Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and figures. Mentor and guide mid-level and junior staff in selection of appropriate analyses methods and representative and appropriate engineering parameters. + Prepare engineering reports, and contract plans and specifications for construction bidding + Work with multi-disciplinary teams to convey important geotechnical information and assumptions as they relate to the overall project objectives. + Exercise engineering judgment to develop design details and select and adapt engineering design alternatives + Support business development activities with new and existing mining, power, dams, levees and municipal clients + Assistance in growing the department to expand capabilities and project backlog. + Build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues + Position for future projects with new and existing clients. + Prepare detailed scopes of work and fee estimates. **About AECOM** At AECOM, we believe infrastructure creates opportunity for everyone. Our private sector work includes assignments for multiple commercial/industrial sectors, including oil and gas, chemicals, power, food and beverage, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. https://aecom.com/markets/water/ **Minimum Requirements** + BA/BS & 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency and/or education. **Preferred Qualifications** + Master’s degree in Geotechnical engineering or related field preferred. + Experience on water, mining, dam and levee projects. + Working knowledge of the following programs: AutoCAD/Civil 3D, gINT, VisualBasic, SlopeW, SeepW, Slide, Settle3D, UTexas, WEAP, L-Pile. + Experience writing geotechnical engineering proposals and managing engineering projects. + Experience working with a multidisciplinary team of civil & geotechnical engineers, and geologists. + Experience leading geotechnical analyses, writing geotechnical reports and developing plans and specifications for contractor bidding. **What We Offer** We will give you the flexibility you need to do your best work with hybrid work options.
