Real Property Appraisers Level I/II perform a wide variety of responsible and complicated assessment and appraisal duties to determine the fair value of, and assess taxes on, improved and unimproved properties. Real properties include, but are not limited to agricultural, marine, residential, commercial, industrial, multi-use, unique and specialized properties and open space lands.
Real Property Appraiser is a single class with two salary levels. The level at which the initial appointment is made and when advancement occurs are at the discretion of the appointing authority. Incumbents may advance from Level I to Level II provided that they have demonstrated the ability to perform the responsibilities required at a higher performance level.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school (or equivalent of a high school education as determined by passing the general education development test approved by the California Department of Education)
And
Four (4) years of relevant education and/or experience.
(a) One year of education shall consist of either thirty (30) passing semester units or forty-five (45) passing quarter units from a recognized accredited four-year college or university.
(b) "Relevant experience" means employment experience within the last ten years in any of the following occupations:
