Tree Supervisor

Job Description

Under direction, organizes, supervises, assigns and reviews the work of staff responsible for planting, removing, pruning, and caring for ornamental and shade trees and shrubbery; ensures work quality, and adherence to established policies and procedures. 

This is a limited continuous filing exam. Next filing cut-offs are at 5:00 pm on:

Minimum Qualifications

Either: 
Two years of full-time paid experience employed by the County of Sacramento in the class of Tree Trimmer.

Or: 
Three years of full-time paid experience planting, trimming, spraying, and caring for ornamental and shade trees and shrubbery, two years of which must have been in a lead worker or supervisory capacity.

Note:
 If the word “experience” is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.

Desirable Qualifications

The following credentials are desirable, but not required:
  • Possession of a certificate from the International Society of Arboriculture
  • Possession of a current Qualified Applicator Certificate for the application of herbicides and pesticides from the Department of Pesticide Regulation, State of California
