We’re looking for a motivated Utility Worker I to join our team supporting SMUD’s service area. Your work will include setting up meeting and event spaces, maintaining cleanliness, performing grounds upkeep, operating equipment and vehicles, and assisting trades teams with labor support. You’ll help ensure that our buildings and work environments stay organized, safe, and ready to support our mission.
As a Utility Worker I, you’ll work both independently and with others to keep SMUD’s facilities running smoothly. Your efforts support our commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality service, essential elements that help us deliver clean, affordable energy to our community every day.
A Utility Worker I provides services performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties. They may assist skilled technical labor in the performance of their assignments in duties that are of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature.
Employees in this classification are assigned to perform non-skilled and semi-skilled assignments independently and within a team environment. Work assignments typically require providing services and interaction with SMUD customers and employees throughout SMUD’s service area and facilities. General scope of work is Custodial, Grounds, Material Handling/Delivery, Workstations/Space configuration, Waste & Recycle collection/disposal, and General Labor.

This role will be an on-site role that will require being in person at one of SMUD's campuses daily to complete work tasks.
